Update 3
Most residents will already be aware that the estate completion works we reported on in October, are now well under way, and despite the delays, David Wilson Homes still hope to complete everything prior to Christmas.
TRRA are still in discussion with them on certain aspects of the new drainage culvert that is being installed under Cadora Way, and also about the situation with ‘Lake Caudwell’. We hope that the current silted up drainage ‘orifice plate’ will soon be cleaned out, to allow the brook to flow freely.
We are also working with DWH to find a solution to making safe the drainage ‘head wall’ (which existed before the estate was built), on the boundary between Oakfields and the new children’s playground area.
Specific issues
- Drain covers. Although some of the broken plastic drain covers have been replaced, others haven’t yet and we are chasing this issue with DWH and EMG. Will anyone who had previously reported a damaged cover, which still hasn’t been replaced, please let us know (via the ‘Report an Issue’ page), so that we can double check on any which remain outstanding.
- Pedestrian access. The work to regrade the footpath into Oakfields has started this morning. This will create a smooth slope to level with the pavement in Oakfields, making access easier for pushchairs and disabled scooters. A new cycle chicane is also being installed. We have been assured that the workmen will try to keep access open at relevant times for parents taking children to and from St John’s C of E Academy. Please try to be patient however, as there may be some unavoidable disruption. This work is essential and it’s being done for our benefit!
- Drainage works. The works in Cadora Way are still on schedule to be completed prior to Christmas, although the groundwork contractor keeps finding pipes under the road that aren’t meant to be there! Again, we have been assured that the workmen will try to be as accommodating as possible, especially when the works directly affect certain properties.
- Missing ‘knee rail’. DWH have now agreed to repair the missing knee rail behind the bollards at the bottom of Inwood Drive.
- Other works. Other infrastructure works (such as replacing the road bricks at the top of Blakes Way where they are sinking) will be carried out as soon as the drainage works in Cadora Way have been completed.
- Landscaping Survey. The landscaping audit and report are now scheduled to be completed by 4th December. The survey had been delayed due to the second lockdown.
